WHAT IS PFAS/PFOA?
(PFAS) are a family of widely used, man-made, "forever chemicals" that repel water and oil.
These Chemicals can be found in a variety of products like non-stick cookware, food packaging, stain and water repellent.
Due to their wide use PFAS is found in water, air, fish, and soil across the Nation.

Some PFAS take centuries to break down in the environment. This is why they are called “Forever Chemicals.”
PFAS HEALTH RISKS, WATER TESTING & TREATMENT
PFAS HEALTH RISKS
Studies have shown that exposure to some PFAS in the environment may be linked to harmful health effects. Potential health risks include low infant birth weight, decreased fertility, increased cholesterol, abnormal thyroid levels, liver inflammation, weakening of the immune system and cancer.
PFAS IN PEOPLE
Because of their widespread use and their persistence in the environment, many PFAS Chemicals are found in the blood of people all over the world.
PFAS WATER TESTING
PFAS Field Samples are captured by Water Professionals and tested by State Certified PFAS Labs. Water Sample results are typically available with-in one-two weeks.

According to estimates the drinking water supply for at least 16 million people is contaminated with PFAS.
PFAS WATER TREATMENT
There are three methods to remove PFAS Chemicals, Carbon Filtration, Reverse Osmosis (RO), and Ion Exchange. Carbon Filtration & Reverse Osmosis Products are NSF Certified to safely remove PFAS Chemicals. No standard has been written for ion exchange products.

NSF Certified Products have high standards and testing procedures for food sanitation and safety.
PFAS TREATMENT GRANTS
Removing PFAS from your Water can be an expensive, on-going proposition. The cost for treatment depends on many variables including the size of the population served. Federal Grants for PFAS Mediation are available for qualified water systems.
FEDERAL GRANT FUNDING
As part of a government-wide effort to confront PFAS pollution, the EPA has invited states and territories to apply for $1 billion – in grant funding – to address PFAS and other emerging contaminants in drinking water.
